DC stops dissolving council positions

Karonga district commissioner has reversed her decision of dissolving position of chairperson and others that are headed by councilors after the concerned group got a restriction order from Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.

Early this week, Rosemary Moyo dissolved all council positions after receiving a letter from government to elect other council leaders on September, 11 this year which states that the period of the current leadership has expired according to local government Act.

However, chairperson of Karonga district council Patrick Kishombe told this radio that the development has shown that the district commissioner has negative attitude towards councilors who have been fighting for her transparency and accountability especially in the management of development funds.
