Presidential taskforce on covid-19 has eased the restrictions that government gazzetted and imposed

Kandodo Chiponda who is also Minister of health has indicated that shops can now operate up to 10 pm and seating capacity in public transport should not be over 75 percent

The chairperson of presidential taskforce on covid-19 further says the eased restrictions will be effected from this Friday

“The new revised restrictions will be reviewed in 4 weeks time to see if people are adhering to them,” Kandodo Chiponda

The Minister of health has since urged law enforcers to continue checking that everyone is following the law

Commenting on the matter Health Rights activists have cautioned against laxity to follow covid 19 safety measures following the easing of the gazetted regulations.

Speaking to radio Islam in separate interviews, George Jobe and Maziko Matemba say though the measures have been eased, there are still chances on infection as the country is still recording positive cases.

Matemba said, government has eased the restrictions following the drop in positive cases but he has warned that “the drop might be due to lower numbers of people who are getting tested.”

In his remarks, Executive Director of Malawi Health Equity Network MHEN George Jobe says the easing of the restrictions will help Malawians in economic activity but has warned that the situation might be reversed should numbers start to rise hence the need to continue following safety measures.
