Malawi president expresses sadness on Magufuli’s death

Malawi president has expressed sadness with the passing of Tanzanian president John Pombe Joseph Magufuli.

Dr Lazarus Chakwera has send condolence message to family and people of Tanzania with whom Malawi shares a border and common heritage

Chakwera said Magufuli was a towering symbol of Africa’s economic resurgence and his passing is incalculable loss to the continent

He prayed for uncommon strength and fortune for the people of Tanzania and their government as Malawi joins that country in morning over the next fourteen days

“Government of Malawi stands ready to render any support needed by the government of Tanzania in the aftermath of Magufuli’s passing,” Chakwera

Speaking in an interview with Radio Islam, information minister Gospel Kazako who is also government spokesperson says the two countries share a number of things in common and there were a lot of plans the two leaders had hence the shock.

However, Kazako said they look forward to continuation of their programs with the government of Tanzania.

“President John Pombe Magufuli will be remembered as a true son of Africa who wanted the best for the best for the continent,” Kazako

Magufuli was Tanzania’s fifth President from 2015 and according to his vice Samia Suluhu Hassan he died on Wednesday from heart complications at a hospital in Dar es Salaam.

Magufuli had not been seen in public for more than two weeks and rumors had been circulating that he was receiving treatment of covid-19 in Kenya and India
