Malawi suspends international flights, cross border buses

As efforts to contain the coronavirus continue, the special Cabinet committee on Covid 19 has announced that Malawi has suspended all cross border passenger buses effective 1st April 2020.

The announcement came during a press briefing which the committee addressed in Lilongwe.

Speaking, chair of the committee Jhappi Mhango also announced a reduction of seating capacity to 60 percent for all public service vehicles.

” International flights have also been suspended effective 1st April 2020 except for aircrafts carrying health personnel, essential health equipment and emergency relief items,” Mhango says

He added that aircrafts carrying returning residents or general cargo will also be handled on a case by case basis.
