
Presidential Taskforce seeks Mpox Vaccine from WHO
Presidential Taskforce on public health emergencies says is discussing with World Health Organisation WHO on provision of Mpox vaccine doses to the country.
Co-chairperson of the taskforce Dr Alread Chalamira Nkhoma in an interview said at this point Malawi has not yet submitted the figure of the required doses as the situation is still being monitored.
He however lamented few diagnostic sites as currently the services are only being provided in central hospitals and Public Health institute of Malawi Phim.
He also adds the need to recruit more health workers who will help to conduct research and manage people with the disease.
The country has now recorded 4 cases of Mpox disease since the first case was reported on 16 April 2025.
