MAM holds national election in August

Committee for this year’s Muslim Association of Malawi National elections has appealed to contestants to abide by rules and regulations as they are not running for political positions.

The appeal has been made as only two weeks remain to conduct them at Comessa Hall in Blantyre.

Speaking to radio Islam on Wednesday, chairman of the election Committee, Sheikh Alie Kenedy said the committee is ready to hold them on 31st August as all challenges which marred the district and regional elections have been addressed.

“The polls must not divide Muslims in the country,” said sheikh Kennedy.

He asked the candidates to accept the results.

So far two people have shown interest to contest on the position of MAM chairman.

They are the incumbent Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad and Dr Imran Sherrif.
