Ministry records 123 cases of measles, one death in Mangochi
Ministry of health says so far the country has recorded 123 cases of measles and one death since 29th August this year in Mangochi district
Ministry of health senior promotion officer Alvin Chidothi has disclosed this during media engagement on cholera, measles and Mpox
Chidothi said 2 new cases were reported on Monday this week in the same district
He said 49 cases are under-five children while 72 are over five years and males are the most affected with 75 percent
Chidothi adds that 31 suspected cases await lab results
Deputy Director of community and promotion health responsible for health promotion Dr Kondwani Mamba said the situation is stabilizing as government has put in place various mechanisms including vaccination campaigns in 144 sites, active case management, community awareness and screening in schools
Dr Mamba has therefore advised parents and guardians to be vigilant and exercise hygiene practices
