Ministry of education says has started processes to introduce Portuguese and Swahili languages in its curriculum following a directive by president Lazarus Chakwera in April this year.

Speaking in an interview with Radio Islam, the ministry’s public relations officer, Chikondi Chimala, said the ministry is consulting stakeholders on how to go about implementing the idea.

Chimala, added that they are working with Malawi Institute of Education MIE a mandated institution for curriculum development and review.

He however said the processes might take long to conclude as it is rigorous.
