Parliament approves funds for SADC summit

Parliament has approved funds for holding SADC summit in Malawi at the end of this year.

The funds are in the budget of Ministry of foreign affairs which has been increased from 22 to 23 billion kwacha

However, before the approval some MPs asked for clarification on why the funds for SADC summit have been included in this budget when the date for holding the conference is too far

They suggested that the money for the summit could be included in the 2021 to 2022 budget which will be discussed in June

In his response Mlusu said “we have allocated the money for preparatory activities.”

Parliament then approved various votes which included that of unforeseen circumstances
