Parliament doubts AIP Success

Parliamentary committee on agriculture has expressed doubt on governments’ plan of reaching to 1.5 million people in this year’s Affordable Inputs Program.

The sentiments by the committee chairperson Sameer Suleman, come following reports that most of the beneficiaries’ names are not appearing on the list

According to Suleman, government is using some of the money meant for fertilizer purchase to settle outstanding debts to fertilizer suppliers.

Suleman has wondered why the fertilizer distribution has started in Central region leaving out areas in the south and eastern regions which receive rains earlier.

Meanwhile, government spokesperson Moses Kunkuyu has down played the fears and dismissed the rumor that it has used some of the money to settle some of its debts.
