Qadria Muslim Association of Malawi Condemns Ant-Muslim Remarks by Ruling Party’s Governor
Qadria Muslim association of Malawi QMAM has condemned the insulting remarks made by DPP eastern region Governor Julius Paipi on Muslims.
At a political rally in Makanjira, Mangochi district Paipi said electing a Muslim in next year’s elections is like voting for war in the country.
Speaking in an interview with Radio Islam, QMAM’s publicity secretary Sheikh Jafar Kawinga said is sad to note that Paipi made such sentiments in a democratic country.
“Paipi violated Malawi constitution hence should be punished accordingly,”sheikh Kawinga said.
He also said Malawi has enjoyed co-existence over the years therefore it is sad for some misguided political leaders to mislead the nation.
Kawinga has since asked DPP leadership to bring Paipi to order.
Meanwhile, NICE Trust has called upon political leaders to refrain from castigating other people’s religions for peace and unity in Malawi.
Civic education officer for NICE Trust in Mangochi Turner Banda made the call after DPP eastern region governor Julius Pipe said Muslims are warmongers.
“Such conduct causes violence in a country,” Banda stressed.
Therefore he advised political leaders to desist from uttering divisive statements for Malawi to have free and fair elections in 2019.
