QMAM speaks on Mmanga fracas

The Qadria Muslim Association of Malawi (QMAM) has joined hands in condemning the violence that happened at Mmanga primary School in Balaka district.

Speaking with Radio Islam, Publicity Secretary for QMAM, Sheikh Jaafar Kawinga said there is no room in Malawi for such violence particularly between communities that have lived together for so many years.

Sheikh Kawinga also said that they are no reported cases that wearing headgear has interfered with school discipline nor has it disturbed other students from paying attention in class.

He also said that QMAM has called upon other religious bodies in condemning the acts and appeal for calm, soberness and rationality among the people and their leaders in the communities.

Sheikh Kawinga pressed emphasis that right to education and religion is enshrined in the country’s constitution.
