Saudi Arabia increases Malawi’s hajj quota.
Muslim Association of Malawi MAM has commended authorities in Saudi Arabia for increasing the number of Malawian pilgrims.
Spokesperson for the Muslim mother body, Sheikh Dinala Chabulika made the remarks after Saudi Embassy increased Malawi’s hajj quota to 350 from 280.
“The Muslim community in Malawi worked collectively to have the quota increased,” said Sheikh Chabulika.
According to communication from Saudi Embassy, the increase follows a request by Ambassador Wilfred Ali which was made during his meeting with Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Nixar Bin Obaid Madani, when he presented his letters of credence to King Salman.
“Two Malawian hajj Agents Lloyds Travel center and Arabian Tours and Travel as registered agents, who will share the quota by half,” the letter further recognizes.
Sheikh Chabulika has meanwhile congratulated Ambassador Ali and the team for this achievement.
