Scotland Pledges 11 million Pounds To Malawi
Government of Scotland has pledged 11 million Pounds to Malawi for development.
Board Chair for Scotland Professor Kenneth Ross disclosed during a press conference in Lilongwe ahead of a high level conference from 28th to 29th September at Bingu International Conference Centre BICC under the theme “Malawi and Scotland: together for sustainable development.”
Ross said the funding will be used in the next five years.
In his remarks Dr Ann Phoya chairperson for Malawi Scotland Partnership said the money will be utilized in various projects such as health and education.
“The meeting is very important to discuss the issues regarding the funding. Government of Scotland has been giving Malawi money which has been used in different projects such as health and agriculture just to mention a few,” Phoya explained
She said the money is given to civil society organisations that work hand in hand with government in implementing development projects.
