Trade Ministry to lobby companies reconsider price adjustments procedures

Minister of trade and industry says the ministry will continue to lobby companies and organizations to reconsider their price adjustments procedures.

Speaking during a press briefing in Lilongwe, Mark Katsonga Phiri, said it is disheartening to notice that locally made products like sugar, soap and salt are being highly priced.

Phiri says they have asked Illovo to explain a recent 76% increment of sugar prices in the country.

Phiri further said government is working tirelessly to reinstate some companies which have closed as this is a key component in jobs creation.

According to Phiri, he had to take a step of visiting all companies so that they should not close the businesses despite sailing through economic turmoil.
