Yao People Form National Group

Department of Museum and Monuments has expressed its pleasure to Yao people as they are about to launch their national group called Chiwanja cha a Yao.

This was said during a preparation meeting for the launch held at M’manga Primary School in Balaka district.

Speaking to Radio Islam Director of the department Dr Elizabeth Gomani Chindevu said “such groupings strengthen unity among people of different tribes.”

Chiwanja cha Yao is set to be launched on Saturday 8 December at M’manga school grounds in Balaka district under a theme “Promoting Peace, Unity and Education through Culture”.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that date of the launch has been postponed as the president who is supposed to be the guest of honour will attend another function on the scheduled day.
