YAS condemns Malawi for voting against Palestine resolution

Youth and Society (YAS) has condemned Malawi government for voting against resolution meant to hold Israel accountable of atrocities in Palestine.

The resolution condemning the actions of Jewish settlers in occupied Palestinian territories including east Jerusalem was tabled last Friday at United Nations Human Rights Council in which Malawi is a member.

However Malawi is one of the three countries which voted against the motion in the 47 member council.

But reacting to the development, Executive Director of YAS, Charles Kajoloweka, questioned the motive behind Malawi for defending human rights abusers.

Kajoloweka was quick to say that “YAS is going to engage government to explain why it is blocking the move to investigate crimes against humanity.”
