BT City budget increases by K165m

Blantyre City council’s development budget for 2020 to 2021 has increased by 165 million kwacha as compared to the 2019 to 2020 budget.

This has been revealed during a budget participatory conference held at the council.

According to the council’s report which was circulated during the conference the budget has increased to 1 billion 942 million 234 thousand and 388 kwacha from 1 billion 777 million 234 thousand and 388 kwacha.

This represents a 9 percent increase

“Local generating revenue has been adjusted by 27 percent while the roads budget, constituency development and local development funds have remained the same,” reads the report

Opening the conference Mayor of Blantyre city Council, worship councilor Wild Ndipo said the crafted budget will make the city a good home to stay.

” A lot have been done in the previous year although there were some challenges,” says Ndipo

Therefore, he sends an appeal to all citizens to be patient because not everyone will be accommodated in the same time.

Edwin Mngelezi Chinthuli is Finance committee chairperson of Blantyre city council and asked the stakeloders to help in the implementation of the budget

Goodnews Mphande was one of the participants of the conference who urged the council to be transparent in its development activities.
