CDEDI writes Ministry on Sugar Scarcity, Price Hike

Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives CDEDI has written Ministry of Trade on scarcity and price hike of sugar

Speaking at a press conference executive director of CDEDI Sylvester Namiwa express worry on the delays to table and pass sugar bill in parliament which has remained idle for the past 10 years

Namiwa criticized government for withholding a report on sugar related issues

He says the minister should hold a sugar indaba where Illovo Company should answer many questions that consumers have owing to the gravity of the matter.

He wondered why sugar is always scarce in the first months of the year saying this means the manufacturers deliberately reduce their production.
