Conflict Escalates in Malawi’s Ruling Party

Democratic Progressive Party DPP has said will hold its convention in June this year.

This has been announced in a statement signed by Secretary General of DPP Grezeider Jeffrey.

In an interview with Radio Islam Geoffrey said date for the convention will be announced by the chairperson of the convention in due course.

“Everyone is free to contest at the convention,” Jeffrey said

Meanwhile, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Chilima faction has refuted reports that it is intending to obtain an injunction stopping the party’s forth coming convention due this month.

Speaking in an interview with Radio Islam, one of the Members of Parliament from the faction Bon Kalindo, said they are not afraid and that they are ready to take part in the said indaba.

“The president should not listen to hear says but rather focus on the convention and allow all aspirants to contest at the indaba,’ Kalindo said.

Commenting one of the political analysts in the country, Humphreys Mvula said the president should keep quiet and allow competition take place during the convention, saying this is the only way that he will show Malawians that he is a true democrat as the he prides himself to be.
