Government requested to drop charges against Anti-Corruption Bureau director

Governance and Human Rights expert has requested government to drop all charges leveled against Anti-Corruption Bureau director general Martha Chizuma with regards to the leaked audio.

The appeal has been made after a Lilongwe based magistrate court summoned Chizuma last week following a fresh law suit on the case.

In a statement Undule Mwakasungula said charging and prosecuting the ACB director undermines collective efforts of Malawians in the fight against grand scale theft of public funds.

He said is unfortunate that the commission of inquiry failed to establish critical components of the investigation and the one who leaked the audio.

According to Mwakasungula, the focus should be on the person that leaked the audio rather than Chizuma who he said had no intention to harm, intimidate or injure anyone through the audio.
