Govt clears rumours of k5000 fees in Primary school

Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has described as baseless the rumours circulating that government intends to introduce tuition fees in primary schools.

Director of Basic Education Dr Joseph Chimombo told the press in Lilongwe, that the Ministry has never discussed introduction of tuition fees in primary school in the last 16 months.

Chimombo added that “development fees which schools charge the pupils to pay should be agreed upon by parents, teachers, communities and associations.”
