IFRC launches 5.7 billion kwacha appeal for Malawi cholera response

International federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies IFRC has launched an emergency appeal seeking 5.7 billion kwacha towards the prevention and control of cholera outbreak in Malawi

According to Head of IFRC’s delegation to Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe John Roche the assistance will be distributed through Malawi Red Cross Society MRCS to 15 affected districts

Roche says the funds will help the society to reach 1.3 million people in need of assistance

He says they need to support joint efforts of Ministry of Health in its response to the devastating situation and save lives

Secretary General for MRCS Mcbain Kanong’onedza says are committed to continue supporting government in responding to cholera outbreak and other health emergencies

Kanongoneza expressed gratitude to IFRC and other partners for continued finance and technical assistance to MRCS for cholera response plan
