Mutharika’s son granted bail

Mzuzu High court has granted bail to Tadikila Mafudza, the step son of former president professor Peter Mutharika

Delivering her ruling, Judge Gladys Gondwe granted bail on condition that the accused produced a cash bond of two million kwacha, two sureties to be bonded at 5 million kwacha each who should also be his blood relatives and to be reporting to police once a fortnight, surrender his travel documents and not contact any of the prospective state witnesses.

Mafudza who was remanded at Maula prison was not present in court but represented by his legal team led by lawyer Gilbert Khonyongwa

Mafudza was arrested following discovery of a mass grave of 30 suspected illegal immigrants at Mtangatanga forest reserve in Mzimba district

He is answering charges alongside four others namely David Luhanga, Thomas Gedion, Samuel Navaya and Duncan Kalulu
