President Chakwera apologizes to medical practitioners on atrocities in cholera outbreak

President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has apologized to all medical practitioners for the atrocities that they go through in course of their work.

Chakwera made the apology when he visited area 25 health center where community members vandalized and abused health workers over cholera case management last week.

The visit is part of the activities towards the launch of cholera campaign at Mgona Community ground in Lilongwe later this afternoon.

Speaking to the gathering Chakwera applauded the health workers for the committing to serving the community regardless of the several abuse they face.

He however criticized the citizenry and the media for misusing their rights and responsibilities which is fueling acts violent that the country is facing.

Minister of health Khumbidze Kandodo Chiponda disclosed that fund have been allocated through the 2023/2024 budget to turn area 25 health center into a community hospital.

One of the victims of the violent acts at the facility nurse Tifera Phiri requested for assurance from the president on the safety of health workers in line of duty.
