UDF suspends Primary Elections, appoints Acting Regional Governors

United Democratic Front (UDF) has suspended the party’s primary elections, made appointments as well as promotions ahead of the September 16 general elections.

According to the letter signed by UDF’s Secretary General, Genarin Lemani, the decision has been made in the best interest of maintaining unity, order and strategic focus during the critical phase of campaign.

Lemani has therefore instructed district and constituency committees to hold off any preparations, communications or activities related to the primary elections until further notice.

Meanwhile, UDF has appointed some senior members to various positions of the party.

In the letter made available to Radio Islam, the party has appointed Shabir Suleman, Kennedy Kuntenga, S. Kavalo, Samuel Chilembwe and Ireen Mwaiseni to the position of National Executive Committee.

The party has also appointed some individuals to feel the position of Regional Governors and their deputies for Eastern, Nyika, Central and Shire Valley.
