Malawians protest against public funds plunder

Normal duties at Karonga district have been disrupted after hundreds of concerned residents in conjunction with civil society through Malawi Economic Justice Network MEJN petitioned the district commissioner against the looting of public funds.

According to the petition, the council should arrest the culprits today.

Tebulo Gondwe the Secretary of the group that organized the demonstrations who is also official of National Initiative for Civic Education NICE said “failure which they will order the business community to stop paying tax as well as not leaving the premise.”`

The district commissioner Rosemary Moyo refused to answer the petition but chairperson of the council Patrick Kishombe.

Kishombe blamed the secretariat for the problem.

“I promise to matter to police on Wednesday after council meeting,” said Kishombe.
