Malawi’s 2024/2024 budget presentation 2 March
Leader of the house in parliament has announced that the 2023/2024 national budget statement will be presented on Thursday 2nd March.
Richard Chimwendo Banda says the president will appear in parliament on 28th February to answer questions from members of parliament.
Leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa said reports indicate that the donated fertilizer has been stolen as out of 20, 000 metric tones only 9000 arrived in the country and the rest ended in Mozambique
He said relatives of Chakwera who were implicated in the swindling of 750 billion kwacha meant for procurement of affordable fertilizer have also been mentioned in the theft of the donated fertilizer
He bemoaned the continued rising of prices of commodities beyond the reach of many Malawians
Nankhumwa is saddened with Chakwera’s breaching of his austerity measures through frequent local and international trips
He asked office of attorney general to do the needful in as far as Zuneth sattar case is concerned
The leader of opposition asked the president to release a report regarding the involvement of vice president Saulos Chilima in corruption scandal
Nankhumwa criticized the prosecution of director of Ant corruption bureau Martha Chizuma
Meanwhile the speaker of parliament Catherine Gotani Hara has suspended some Members of parliament for democratic progressive party for breaching her ruling after they interrupted the president’s state of national address
